Madehurst 10k or 5k Run
After the huge success of the inaugural 2019 and the 2021 & 2022 events, the 2023 Madehurst 10K/5K will be held again this year on Father’s Day, Sunday 18th June.
This is another an opportunity for everyone, young and old, fit and not so fit, to dust off their running shoes and enjoy the beautiful countryside and wonderful views that we are blessed to have on our doorsteps.
For regular runners, it's an opportunity to try a route that is mainly off road and test your stamina on a few South Downs inclines. Or perhaps it is the chance that 5 km runners have been looking for to extend themselves to the 10 km distance.
If you are reading this in March and you haven’t ever run in an organised race, it could be the perfect time to dig out your sneakers and start a new regime. Running, or even power walking, are good for the body and the soul, especially when the exercise is done outside, with the added bonus of a daily dose of Vitamin D from the sun if it breaks through the early springtime weather.
There is plenty of on line advice on running and lifestyle websites, and regimes such as the ‘couch to 5K’ programme, to help get you started. A mixture of walking and running will get you around any route, and each outing will improve your stamina. Perhaps with a friend to keep you motivated, before too long the runs will get longer and the walking intervals will be less frequent. It really is as simple as that.
Please put a placeholder in your diary for this inclusive and fun event for 2023, which will be held in full compliance with all applicable C19 government and national athletics authority regulations. With prizes on offer, as well as a warm welcome, refreshments and the thrill of achievement, there really is nothing to lose.

WOW! In 2022 we raised an amazing £2080 for Sage House!
Thank you to the 400+ runners, marshals and organisers who joined us on Sunday 16th June 2019 for the first Madehurst 10k or 5k run!
It was a great success even with the weather but the organisers would welcome your feedback both good and bad so they can improve the event for next year.
